We are Blackfriars Theatre – a small but mighty venue in the heart of Boston, Lincolnshire. Housed in one of the oldest buildings in town, we’re also Boston’s only theatre, and proud to be a hub for creativity, community, and live performance.
This September, we’re launching something brand new just for schools.
The Blackfriars Schools Portal will be your go-to space for shows, workshops, resources, and support – all built with teachers in mind. Whether you’ve worked with us before or this is your first time hearing our name, you’re incredibly welcome.
A new chapter begins
Over the summer, Blackfriars is undergoing an exciting transformation. We’re building a brand new website, launching this Schools Portal, and unveiling a fresh new look for the theatre. It’s the start of a bold new chapter – one that puts community, creativity, and access for young people at the heart of everything we do.

Hello and welcome. I’m Adey, the Executive and Artistic Director at our little theatre that can... and will.
Blackfriars is a small, independent theatre with big ambitions. We are proud to be Boston’s only theatre, and even prouder to be a National Portfolio Organisation supported by Arts Council England. That support helps us offer more opportunities to young people and schools, and to make theatre feel not just accessible, but truly welcoming.
This programme is about creating meaningful and memorable experiences through live performance. Whether you are looking to support classroom learning or treat your students to something joyful, we are here to help. And we promise to keep the process simple for busy teachers.
This outreach project is something we at Blackfriars are really excited about. We are building this programme with schools in mind, and we would love to hear from you as it grows. If you have ideas, suggestions, or just want to talk something through, please do get in touch.
